One of the best recent Star Wars games is coming to Xbox Game Pass on 25 April. Microsoft’s subscription service adds new titles every month, including some and removing others. The variety ranges from critically acclaimed indie games to the biggest AAA titles, offering plenty of choice for subscribers.
On 25 April, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, released almost a year ago, will be added to the Game Pass catalogue for consoles and PC. The game will arrive via the EA Play service from Electronic Arts, the game’s publisher.
Considering the popularity of Jedi: Survivor, it’s surprising that the addition wasn’t announced at the beginning of the month, along with the main Game Pass programme for April. However, taking into account the title’s good reception – despite a troubled launch on some platforms – its arrival on the service is undoubtedly a victory for subscribers.
Jedi: Survivor is one of the best Star Wars games in recent years
Following on from Cal Kestis ‘ journey begun in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Survivor takes place five years later, showing the former Padawan now as a more experienced Jedi Knight. The gameplay reflects this evolution, allowing players to start the game with many skills learnt in the first title and acquiring others along the way.
The sequel also features more elaborate lightsaber combat, expanding on Fallen Order’s challenging and rewarding system. New sabre fighting forms and techniques – including the use of the blaster – have been added to take on a wider variety of enemies.
Like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is already available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers through the partnership with EA Play, from 25 April players will be able to enjoy Cal Kestis’ full story to date. Jedi: Survivor appears to be the second part of a trilogy.
Earlier this year, EA confirmed the development of a third game in the Star Wars Jedi series. Unfortunately, this news coincided with the cancellation of a potentially Mandalorian-led title, with many of that project’s developers being transferred to Jedi 3.
