Update 24.03-09.20.00 for PlayStation 5 is now available for download. Like all modern video games, Sony’s PS5 receives regular updates. The scope of these updates varies greatly. In some cases, the patch notes are vague and there are no noticeable differences, while other PS5 console updates are more substantial.
For example, the PS5 update released last month was quite significant. It improved DualSense controls, allowed users to adjust the brightness of the PS5’s power indicator, added new party features and brought other improvements. The latest PS5 update isn’t as big as the one from March 2024, but it’s still more relevant than many others released for the console over the years.
According to Sony, the latest PS5 console update has expanded the Game Help feature to include Community Game Help. With Community Game Help, players will now be able to see tips generated by other players’ gameplay videos. The new PS5 update has also fixed an issue where the “Remote Play Connection” message doesn’t disappear when using the Remote Play feature, giving players the option to hide it manually.
The usual “system software performance and stability” improvements are included in the new update, along with a note that “messaging and usability on some screens” have also been improved.
The main new feature in the latest PS5 console update is Community Help for Games. While it’s safe to say that most PS5 gamers don’t utilise this feature, Game Help can be useful and gives gamers another option when they’re stuck in a game, other than looking up a traditional guide or watching a YouTube video. Perhaps expanding the PS5 Game Help feature to include community videos will help make it more widely used by the community.
As Sony still releases PS3 system updates from time to time, fans can expect PS5 updates to continue being released for many years to come. The updates will vary in importance.
Some will add new features, others will simply seek to improve the stability and performance of the console. It’s not yet known whether any of the updates will add the dynamic themes feature so much requested by PS4 users, but we expect this to happen eventually.

- You can participate in Community Game Help by allowing your gameplay video to be captured automatically and added to the resource after it has been analysed. To enable this, go to Settings > Capture and Broadcasts > Captures > Automatic Captures > Community Game Help and select Participate.
- Fixed an issue where the message “Remote Play connected” remained on the screen when using the Remote Play feature. Players can now hide it manually.
